Exercise and dieting is the hard way of losing way. You will have to undergo strict discipline and many will quit at some point during the journey. Some people will be wildly successful with their diets and exercises and will reap the desired benefits. Although dieting and exercising is hard, when done properly, it is the best way of losing weight while maintaining a good and balanced health. But losing a lot of weight can sometimes come with an ugly side effect for some people saggy skin.
Saggy skin happens when the skin loses its natural elasticity and cannot tighten itself around a body that has lost a lot of weight. This leaves some successful dieters in a dilemma all the excess weight is gone, but now there is excess skin to deal with. For this, there is a surgical solution popularly known as the tummy tuck.
A tummy tuck will surgically attempt to correct the saggy skin problem by stretching the skin over your abdomen and trimming away the excess. Once the excess skin is trimmed off, the remaining skin is sutured into place and the end result, after recovery, is a tight-looking abdomen.
Do take note that a tummy tuck is a major surgical procedure. If undergoing a tummy tuck is a choice that you would make, then the first thing to consider would be your overall state of health. Go through a thorough medical check-up to make sure that you do not have health conditions that could complicate surgery and recovery.
You would also need to understand that tummy tuck recovery takes a while. Dont expect to be showing off your new body a couple of weeks after surgery. Full recovery from a tummy tuck will range from a few months to a year. As with any surgical procedures, there will be scars left behind. Depending on how your skin heals itself, the scar could be hardly noticeable or could be quite prominent. The surgeons do make sure that whatever scars left behind could be well hidden with proper clothing as the main incision is usually done below the bikini line.
Pregnancy could undo the effects of a tummy tuck because the skin will stretch again and there could be a good chance of it not springing back into place if saggy skin was a problem for you to begin with.
